Joyce Bateman Hancock

With extensive experience as a Chartered Accountant and a School Trustee behind her, Joyce is looking forward to representing Winnipeg South Centre so she can continue to deliver for her community.

First elected as a School Trustee in 2001, Joyce has served many roles such as Chair of the Board, Vice-Chair, and Chair of the Policy Committee.  She has worked with parents from all 20 schools in her area to ensure their voices are heard.

Joyce has supported a number of key initiatives as a School Trustee, including the implementation of the Dufferin School Project to redevelop the community around the school, as well as the state-of-the-art science lab at Niji Makwa School.  She also had a hand in the creation of the community-based Aboriginal Teach Education Program in partnership with the University of Winnipeg.

Joyce knows the best way to achieve results is to work together for the greater community.  She and her husband Darell have two teenage children.
