Rona Ambrose, the Leader of the Official Opposition, Issues Statement to Celebrate Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving)

Conservative Party of Canada | September 14, 2016

The Leader of the Official Opposition and Interim Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, Rona Ambrose, issued the following statement to mark Chuseok:

“On behalf of the Conservative Caucus, I would like to offer my warmest greetings to the Koreans in Canada and around the world during the Chuseok holiday.

“Chuseok is often celebrated by sharing of traditional feasts and family stories which make this celebration a time of thanksgiving and elation. For many Koreans, Chuseok is a time to remember the importance of family and tradition which underscores the strength of our values that we are fortunate to share.

“As Koreans come together to celebrate the harvest season, I am reminded of the strong ties between Canada and South Korea. Since the Korean War, in which more than 26,000 Canadians served in Korea, our two nations have shared an important relationship based on mutual admiration and respect.

“Furthermore, under our previous Conservative government, Canada and Korea signed the historic Canada-South Korea Free Trade Agreement just last year.

“Chuseok also provides an opportunity for all Canadians to reflect on the contributions of Canada`s vibrant Korean community in shaping our country.

“Once again, I would like to offer my best wishes to all Koreans and their families during this joyous occasion.

“Happy Chuseok!”
