FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Montreal, Quebec – Today, the Leader of Canada’s Conservatives, the Honourable Andrew Scheer, presented the first series of ideas chosen from consultations held across Quebec since April 2018.
“During the past few months, we have been meeting Quebecers to hear their opinions and their ideas. These consultations will help us determine how the next Conservative government can ensure that a greater majority of Quebecers identify with federal government policies,” said Mr. Scheer.
The Conservative Leader, the political lieutenant for Quebec, Alain Rayes, and the whole Quebec caucus team held unifying and positive meetings with citizens and stakeholders from all walks of life. Those consultations were at the heart of our positive Conservative plan for Canada that puts people before government.
“We heard many concrete and realistic proposals that will benefit Quebecers. We want to thank all those who submitted their proposals during this important exercise of citizens’ participation,” added Mr. Scheer.
Our Conservative Party plan for Quebec is based on five elements:
- Make life easier for Quebecers by establishing a single tax return;
- Offer incentives to retirees who want to go back to work;
- Respect Quebec by giving the province more autonomy on the immigration file;
- Work to stop wastewater discharges in watercourses; and
- Appoint a Quebec Minister of Canada Economic Development and a political Minister from Quebec.
“We are listening to Quebecers, as clearly demonstrated by the release of our first few proposals. In the coming months, we will continue to travel around the province to present our plan. Next October, Quebecers will have the opportunity to replace Justin Trudeau’s Liberals – a government whose errors and failures increase the cost of living for everyone. The Conservative Party is the only serious alternative to Justin Trudeau’s Liberals. The choice is clear: Conservatives will help you get ahead; Justin Trudeau will make you pay for his mistakes,” concluded the Conservative Leader.
