Justin Trudeau failing to lower taxes for small businesses: Rempel

Conservative Party of Canada | June 18, 2018

OTTAWA, ON – The Honourable Michelle Rempel, Member of Parliament for Calgary Nose Hill, today tabled a petition on behalf of nearly 45,000 Canadians calling on the Minister of Finance to abandon Liberal tax hikes on small business owners.

“We know that Justin Trudeau cannot be trusted to manage Canadians’ hard earned money. Justin Trudeau promised during the campaign that this year’s deficit would only be $6 billion. Then Minister Morneau’s budget said the deficit would be $18 billion," said Rempel. “Now the PBO says it will be approximately $22 billion. Never has a Prime Minister spent so much, to achieve so little.”

“To pay for his out-of-control spending, the Prime Minister has no choice but to continue to raise taxes on Canadian families and small businesses. The small business tax changes outlined in the 2018 Budget are yet another one of these tax grabs,” said Rempel.

“Andrew Scheer’s Conservatives understand that small businesses are the backbone of Canada’s economy. We will continue to call on Justin Trudeau and his Finance Minister to do the right thing, lower taxes on small businesses, and abandon any changes to passive income that will only hurt hardworking Canadian families,” concluded Rempel.
