OTTAWA, ON - Andrew Scheer, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and Leader of the Official Opposition, issued the following statement on Pakistan Independence Day:
“Today we mark the 70th anniversary of Pakistan’s independence, and celebrate the immense contributions of Pakistanis in Canada and around the world.
“During this joyous time, Pakistanis across the world celebrate and commemorate this incredibly important and historical day.
“Canada and Pakistan have long enjoyed a bilateral friendship. Canada is home to a vibrant Pakistani community who enrich our country with their hard work, skills, and culture. The Conservative Party of Canada is also proudly represented in the Pakistani community by Senator Salma Ataullahjan, who is the first Senator of Pakistani origin.
“On behalf of the Conservative Party and Official Opposition, I would like to extend my warmest wishes to everyone celebrating Pakistan Independence Day.
