OTTAWA, ON – June 25, 2017

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Andrew Scheer, Leader of the Official Opposition and the Conservative Party of Canada issued the following statement: “Today, Muslims in Canada and around the world celebrate Eid-al-Fitr, which signals the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

“Known as the ‘Festival of the Breaking of the Fast’, Eid al-Fitr is a time marked by special prayers, charity, and gift-giving. It is also time of great joy and celebration as Muslims will gather with family and friends to share festive feasts.

“For all Canadians, Eid al-Fitr provides an excellent opportunity to recognize the tremendous contributions that Muslims have made to our free, prosperous and pluralistic society.

“As I begin my role as the Leader of the Official Opposition and the Conservative Party of Canada, I look forward to reaching out to and working with Muslim Canadians from coast-to-coast.

“On behalf of the Official Opposition and Conservative Party of Canada, I extend my best wishes to all those celebrating Eid al-Fitr. “Eid Mubarak.”
