Andrew Scheer, the Leader of the Official Opposition, issues statement on the 67th anniversary of the Outbreak of the Korean War
OTTAWA, ON - June 25th, 2017
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Andrew Scheer, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and the Official Opposition, issued the following statement: “On the 25th of June every year, we mark the anniversary of the start of the Korean War and honour the brave Canadian soldiers who served during this time.
“67 years ago, the North Korean communist regime launched an attack on the Republic of Korea and was determined to impose a totalitarian dictatorship on the entire Korean peninsula. This unprovoked attack demanded a response from the free world, including Canada.
“Over 26,000 Canadian men and women fought for Korea’s freedom. Five hundred and sixteen Canadians made the ultimate sacrifice. “Today serves as a stark reminder of the dark realities and atrocities of war. Canadians will always remember those who gave their lives for freedom and peace.
“Lest we forget.”
