FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Ottawa, ON – Conservatives and NDP members of the Standing Committee on National Defence have called for an emergency meeting to examine the Trudeau government’s conduct in the investigation and prosecution of Vice-Admiral Mark Norman.

MPs James Bezan, Richard Martel, Cheryl Gallant, and Randall Garrison sent a letter to the Clerk of the Defence Committee requesting an examination into the inappropriate conduct and political interference by the Prime Minister and his Cabinet.

The letters will trigger an emergency meeting within the next five days. At this meeting, MPs on the committee will consider calling on the Vice-Admiral, the Prime Minister, and members of Trudeau’s Cabinet to testify.

“There is overwhelming evidence that Justin Trudeau and his Liberal government politically interfered in a shipbuilding contract and tried to smear the reputation of a highly respected naval officer when they got caught. This Prime Minister must be held to account for his appalling attempt to interfere in yet another criminal prosecution and we will do everything we can to get the answers that Vice-Admiral Norman and all Canadians deserve,” said MP James Bezan.
