Justin Trudeau fails to revoke benefits for convicted cop-killer: McColeman

Conservative Party of Canada | September 25, 2018

Ottawa, ON – Phil McColeman, Shadow Minister for Veterans Affairs, issued the following statement ahead of the Conservative Opposition Day motion calling on Justin Trudeau to revoke the Veterans Affairs Canada benefits that have been extended to Christopher Garnier:

“It is outrageous that a convicted cop-killer – that never served a day in his life – is getting his PTSD treatment paid for while so many of our veterans must fight Veterans Affairs for theirs.

“Mr. Garnier, like all prisoners, has mental health services available to him via the penal system. He does not need to use resources meant for veterans and their deserving family members.

“Despite it being almost one month since we first learned of this, Justin Trudeau has failed to address this issue and present veterans with the answer they deserve.

“Canada’s Conservatives will continue to hold the Trudeau Liberals to account, and demand that Mr. Garnier’s benefits be revoked.”
