FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Québec, QC – The Conservative Shadow Minister for Public Safety, Emergency Preparedness and Border Security, Mr. Pierre Paul-Hus, made the following statement:
“Today, La Presse revealed that a staffer at Global Affairs Canada had his car robbed while he was hiking, a few days before the Prime Minister attended a meeting of the National Governors Association. Among the items stolen were the civil servant's laptop, an encryption key, and the names and passport numbers of RCMP officers.
“This is very worrying. Breaching the safety of Canadian civil servants abroad can have serious impacts on Canada’s national security and our international relations.
“The Prime Minister has a tendency to be casual with national security. We hope that this time, he will take it seriously.”
