FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Ottawa, ON – Phil McColeman, Shadow Minister for Veterans Affairs, issued a statement today following the release of the Parliamentary Budget Officer’s report entitled “The cost differential between three regimes of Veterans Benefits”:

“Today’s report by the Parliamentary Budget Officer confirms once again that veterans are paying for Justin Trudeau’s mistakes. Veterans with severe and permanent injuries will be worse off by an average of $300,000 under Justin Trudeau’s Pension for Life scheme. This is a slap in the face to those who sacrificed for our freedoms.

“Veterans can’t afford to keep paying for Justin Trudeau’s mistakes. They deserve a full-time Minister whose priority should be to provide the services and benefits that veterans need.

“Andrew Scheer’s Conservatives believe in providing the best possible services to veterans and their families, in recognition of their service to Canada. We will continue to call on Justin Trudeau to fulfill the promises he made to veterans.”
