Ottawa, ON – Karen Vecchio, Conservative Shadow Minister for Families, Children and Social Development, today issued the following statement celebrating Pride Month:
“The Pride movement started with just small gatherings of the LGBT community. Over the years, these events have gained incredible momentum with families, friends and allies participating in events across the country.
“As Canadians, we must work together to fight for human rights, end discrimination, and ensure that everyone is treated with the respect and dignity they deserve. Conservatives will always stand up for the rights of each and every Canadian, no matter who they are.
“Conservatives have a long history of supporting the most vulnerable and the LGBT community is one of the most persecuted communities in the world.
“To mark Pride Month, Conservatives recently announced that an Andrew Scheer government will make the Rainbow Refugee Assistance program a fully promoted, multi-year program that receives regular funding.”
